Al Baqi -The Enduring,  is one of the 99 names of Allah - which is also His Divine attribute. 

The Holy Quran says "He whose existence has no end, He who exists evermore. He who exists from eternity and going to remain forever to eternity" All that is on earth will perish: But WILL ABIDE (FOREVER) THE FACE OF THY LORD, Full of Majesty, Bounty, and Honour.

In the painting, the dark and light end of the spectrum signifies the existence and non-existence as experienced by us humans. Most of what we see around us in nature, which may grow from the earth or descend from the skies is in transition between existence and extinction. The flowing forms in the paintings is an interpretation of that phenomenon.  Al Baqi will endure. He will never perish and non-existence can never afflict Him; His Existence is eternal and permanent.
